Varsity Football -
Big district win Friday night over Southeast 16-7. Our defense did not give up any points and our kicker Brunno was 3-3 in field goals. We are hosting Port Charlotte for the district Championship Friday night Nov. 4th. Winning team will host the regional quarterfinals the following Friday and losing team will travel.
Girls Volleyball -
Won in the regional quarterfinals last Wednesday 3-0. Everyone had a great game in the win. We moved on to the regional semifinals away at Osceola on Saturday. We lost to Osceola 3-2 in an overtime thriller. The match was very competitive, and the girls played their hearts out!!! It was a tremendous season and winning back-to-back district titles was a great accomplishment!
Boys Golf -
Aaron Setiawan place 3rd in the district in a play-off and advanced to regional play this Tuesday. Best wishes Aaron!
Girls Golf -
Taryn Nguyen placed 1st in the district tournament. Alexa Dzuibek came in 2nd in the district tournament. This is quite the achievement from two freshmen!
They both advance to the regional tournament taking place today, Monday Oct 31st in the St. Pete area. Congrats and good luck!
Swimming -
The Pirates swim team brought 4 men and 4 women to the Regional Championships at The Long Center in Clearwater. The relay teams did quite well; the women’s medley relay team all season of Maya Szymsnski, Gabby Barreo Marteen, Nora Benninghoff and Sydney Koshinski took 7th place overall. The men’s medley of Frederick Jacobsen, Bobby Benninghoff, Elias Kotra and Kody Lawton finished 14th overall. Sydney Koshinski led the team with individual performances with a 9th place finish in the 50 free and the 100 free. Many of our swimmers made personal best and had great showings in the regionals.
Sydney Koshinski qualified in 50 free and 100 free for the state meet in Stuart, Florida later this week.
Winter sports is up and running. Girls weightlifting has their first match this week and girls basketball started practice last week. Boys basketball starts practice this week. Boys and girls soccer start their pre-season games this week. Wrestling will start practice next week.
